The William Gray, Sr. Tallapoosa County Bank Building was constructed in 1894.  William Gray (b. 2/14/1849-d. 8/12/1921) served in the 47th infantry of Confederate Soldiers beginning May 23, 1862 at the age of 13.  Years later, in 1882, he was named Treasurer of Tallapoosa County.  He constructed the new building for the Tallapoosa County Bank in 1894 at 191 N Tallassee Street. In 1919, William Gray, Jr. (the son of William Gray, Sr.) graduated from the University of Alabama, and he started working at the bank as Asst. Cashier. The bank closed in the early 1930's due to a "bank crisis".  Subsequent owners included Marian Acree Tucker, Estate of Wylodene White, Richard and Harriet White.  Current owners (Dadeville Town Square Revitalized, LLC, of which Anne-Marie Jones is a member) purchased and renovated the building last year, revealing hidden historic features in the building, including the original wainscoting and dual fireplaces.
